This bowl was turned from one side of the crotch of a very old, and large,
Yew tree. Embedded deep in the crotch there was a nail...which could have
been there for several hundred years. It is a reaction between the iron in the nail,
and the tannin in the wood, which causes the range of purple stains in the wood, making this a truly stunning bowl. The base has been left largely natural, and the bowl sits at a slight cant, raising the purple side upwards, ever so slightly. he bowl is finished with oil.
At its widest, the bowl is 20" across, and sits approximatley 4" high.

This nest of three bowls was turned from the opposite side of the crotch to the bowl above. As with the bowl above, the range of colours, figure, and grain, are breathtaking. It is a truly unique set of bowls.
The diameter of the largest bowl is approximtely 14", and stands about 6" high, with a wall thickness of 1". The inner bowls are proportionatley smaller as would be expected.
Finished in oil.

A range of dried flower vases in Ash and Yew, with ebonized beading. These vases come with a range of rims, ranging from fluted through to carved. Some have the carving carried through to the beads.
